Summer is getting closer and closer, which means it’s time to start planning your adventures. Colorado is a busy state and towns within the mountains are even busier with hiking trails and off-road rentals and trails to explore. The mountains near Pagosa Springs, CO are some of the most adventurous because they are sandwiched between the San Juan and Rio Grande National Forests. If you’re traveling through Colorado and want a different kind of adventure, check out Pagosa Adventure Rentals and try out one of our many off-road rentals and ride through the mountain trails.
Pagosa Adventure Rentals offers overnight rentals so you can really explore and experience a side of the Colorado mountains few get to see and experience. With our ATV rentals, you can get away from city life, spend the night at one of the many campsites in the area and wake up and keep riding the day away. Our team of adventure enthusiasts knows the trails better than anyone around, so for your convenience, here are some great campgrounds you can stay at when you rent an overnight ATV.
Rio Grande Campground
Spend the night next to the Rio Grande River. This campground is perfect for an ATV rental adventure because the road leading to the campground is steep and narrow. You can bring in food for a campfire breakfast at one of the seven campsites before you head out to explore more of Rio Grande National Forest. This campsite has no fee, does not take reservations, and does not have water, but is open year round except for when it is snowed in during the winter.
West Fork Campground
Not far north of our Pagosa Adventure Rentals locations, this is a great campground for beginner ATV riders who still want to experience camping in the mountains. This campground is in a secluded area and has sites near the West Fork San Juan River. When you head out in the morning, the West Fork Trail, also called the Rainbow Trail, is a mile away from the campsite and leads into the Weminuche Wilderness. Campsites have campfire rings, drinking water, and vault toilets.
Williams Creek Campground
This popular campground is located 23 miles north of Pagosa Springs and is great for ATV riders. The campsite is about a mile from Williams Reservoir, which offers multiple options for ATV trails. Trails include the favorite Poison Park Road or take the East Fork Road which is ATV only and leads to Silver Falls, or Williams Creek Trail which leads through the Weminuche Wilderness and connects to the Continental Divide Trail. The campsite includes tables, drinking water, and water access.
Lower Piedra Campground
Check out our trails page for information on Turkey Springs and Devil Mountain Loop Trail. Lower Piedra Campground is located 25 miles west of Pagosa Springs and just north of Piedra, Colorado.
